I have cleaned all of the contacts, run a new ground, put a bulb in for the high beam light and plugged it all back in.
Gas gauge still sits at about a 1/4 tank with the key off and goes to "E" with the key on.
But, all of my gauge lights are way brighter than they were before, I think a couple weren't working but since i cleaned all of the light connections it's like Christmas in the dash....silver lining lol.
The car was originally an automatic on the floor with the console. There is a plug that is supposed to plug into that console that is wrapped up and tucked away. That couldn't affect anything could it?

Thanks 6Camaro8 I appreciate that. But, i got it fixed today finally.
There was an extra ground wire coming from the tank that I wasn't sure about. I dropped the tank today and found that the red wire from the sending unit was hooked to a black with a green stripe wire that was run to ground in the trunk. Then the extra ground wire I saw was actually plugged into the wiring harness. This is the way it was hooked up when we took out the old sending unit so we hooked it back up the same way. Since all the wires are mainly black it was tough to tell what was going on. After dropping the tanks and taking out all of the wires, it was easy to figure out. I ran new wires (only 2) and put it all back together. Then I put in 4 gallons and turned the key on, the gauge reads 1/4 tank. Happy times. It was a good, all though frustrating adventure, I learned some things and got the dash light working really good along the way.
Thanks to everyone who helped out with this problem, I would have never figured it out by my self.

Faulty fuel gauge on a 94 Camaro?
My Camaro has a bad fuel gauge; it reads about 1/8 tank fuller than it actually is. In other words, when it gets to about 1/8 tank it runs out of gas, and it fills up way over the full mark all the way to where the gauge bottoms out.
Is it possible to pop the needle off and move it to where it should be, then but it back on? Or is there another fix?
