I have a chance to buy the 68 I sold 26 years ago. Told the guy I would buy the shell that seems to be better off in a scrap yard but I knew I put a 12 bolt posi under it. Also it had a M 20 in it and I threw in a M 22 in the trunk. Don't know which transmission is in it now as it is sitting on the rims in the yard ( He said it is the M22 but I thought he took it apart and left it to rust in his parents yard years ago.) I found out yesterday that he threw away the rear end and put in a 10 bolt after the brackets broke off one side. Anyway, it has a bench seat in the front although it didn't come with it, someone changed the seats. I am really undecided about buying it without the 12 bolt posi rearend as it looks like junk and he wants a grand for it. The front bench seat is trashed on the bottom and drivers side bucket back is torn. What is the value of the seat and M 20 or M 22 transmission? I just don't know if it worth buying other than those parts. It really hurt to see it killed and dismembered out there in the yard.

 

Has anyone ever seen the front bench seat with the bucket backs? It has to be rare as I have never seen another one.

 

Never heard of it. I will do some research and see, I dont think it was an option though. Sounds like the car is trashed now. Sad. If you are williing to put the time, money and effort to get it back up to snuff the go for it. Offer 250 and go from there.

 

Searching the net resulted in a place that sells replacement seat covers for it. The bench bottom matches the seat backs and follows the pattern as if they were buckets,the pattern doesn't go across the seat, just where it would be as ifit was buckets.The fold down/up armrest really doesn't add an aditional seat but I used put two girls in the front. Hope my wife doesn't read this.[:@] They weren't as good looking as her anyway.
