Default Roof Panel

i just got a new goodmark roof panel for my 69 Camaro, and i was wondering if anyone here has put one on before. i have never done anything like this, at least this big. Today i just put a new door skin on and that wasnt the funnest so i am kinda worried about doing the roof. any help would be great. thanks in advance.

if you really aren't confident going in, and have never done something like that, I would save it for the pros. this is a major structural part of your car and you can really do a lot of damage if you do it wrong

if you feel confident though, I say go for it!

well i bit the bullet and i attempted to do the roof today. I called my dad in on this one. We started out melting all the lead out of the factory seams on the front pillars and the rear sails. We then grinded off all the spot weld on the seam and then took the air chiesle and broke them loose the rest of the way and went all the way around the rest of the roof. all i have left to do is grind the spot welds off the front and rear windshield mounts and grind out the spot welds in the drip rail. really wasnt to hard but it was pretty scarry. here are some pictures let me know what you think.

here is the roof on the ground, the roof will now be retor fitted in to floor pans to save a couple hundred dollars.

what kind of experience does your dad have? I'm figuring he has been around this type of work before?

my dad has just the basic skill, him or i have never done anything like this before. we figured we would give it a shot, its better then paying someone 500 bucks to do it. i went to school to learn how to paint and do bodywork for a year but we never went over anything like this. there is a first time for everything. next will be the rear quarters.

Nice job! So, you ground your way around the roof or chiseled? Or both?
Do you already have the quarters?
