thanks for all the info guys. I have been too busy on other crap to get back to the dipstick tube. Its currently in the freezer and I have 5 new o rings so I'll give it a few more tries and let you all know how I make out.

I'm in the same boat, I hope real soon.. Kicking my self i the *** because I put the new timing chain cover and water pump on last weekend and now I want a bigger cam lol... But I hope to get it mated with the th400 and dropped back into the car and running with in the nxt 3-4 weeks

you will probably still beat me out of the garage. this dipstick tube has totally screwed me.

Shouldnt it just pop right in? Mine did anyway it hasnt leaked yet ( knock on wood)

yea, it should but from the online searches I done, it seems to be a very common problem. i read that the "Fitzall" dipstick tubes would go right in so I went to town and bought one.... after it not fitting I called their Tech Line.... they said they fit all but corvettes and camaros. took it back and Im back to square one. fml

I'm using the one out of my 305 in my 355.
