engine decoding help plz

from what i have read the 68 corvette vins were also the serial number in which they were made so 1806068 would have been the 18060th vette made in 68 and the vin on pad usually matched the car so the one your stateing is throwin me?? let me look in some books i have and will post back later!

Engine pad should be stamped something like this TO914IR 188402139 , clean pad and post some pics, F16_7 is date code June 16th 1967.

looks like someone may have done some restamping on that front pad??
either way its still a good engine to build!
whats your plans for it?

Somebody definitely gouged the factory numbers out of that front pad.
Possibly a hack job from a past engine rebuilder, putting his own reference code on it?

About to remove this engine out of the 55 gallon oil bath it's been soaking in four last couple decades -
Would there be any interest in seeing short videos as I bring it back to life and on to the open market ? Or is this a dead subject these days ?
