Default Help Needed making our 67 Stop

Our 22 year old son bought a 67 Camaro project with 4 wheel manual drum brakes. He installed new rear brakes, a new distribution block that sits under the MC and new lines & hose to the rear wheels.

He bled the distribution blocks 2 bleeders. Also bled the lines from furthest wheel to nearest to MC...and the car still has a poor peddle, about 20% what it should be.

Rear brakes, mainly the passenger side need adjustment- not much drag on it when you turn the drum but can't imagine that's the main problem.

He did the bleeding using a clear plastic hose over the bleeder and other end in a bottle of brake fluid.

Also when he bled the distribution block, there was the tiniest trace of air barely visible in the tube that seemed not to ever stop.

1 more thing- when PO put new brakes on the front he installed the pads wrong, the short pad is in front and longer one is in the rear.

That's the info, please let us know how ya recommend we get this 67 to stop.

Thanks in advance.

I think we all need to give 68 some love, must be rough being the middle child in that family.

The front shoe "is" the short one
Gravity bleed then proceed with pedal bleeding
Rear brakes not adjusted is the main cause of a low pedal, short of air in the system
Verify there is no ridge in in the brake drums causing them to be hard to get adjusted correctly (rust ridge from shoe wear)
Consider a disc brake swap for safety sake, that's the first thing I did to my 68
You really need power disc brakes these days, front only, you can leave the rear drum brakes alone and still be safe
4 wheel drum brakes are safe, but the stopping distances are so poor that you might get killed
EVERYTHING needs to be perfect to have properly functioning drum brakes (flat drums, no air and properly adjusted)
