Default Engine date code

Just curious, since the 69 was produced (Introduced) september 68 and ran thru feb 70 wouldn't the block date codes have I suppose almost certainly start in august of 1968, and maybe run to Jan or feb of 1970. Anyone know for sure?

The 69 was produced from sept. 68-nov. 69. The date code could be 68 or 69 depending on when the car was built. The suffix code on the front of the engine will tell exactly what car the engine came out of.

The date code will only have month & day...the partial vin will tell you the model year of the car...with that you can decipher the build date of the motor.
For example...this is a Dec 15th 1965 stamp (T1215) on a 1966 Model year car (6k.....)
