Default Electronic Ignition Upgrade

I've got a '67 convertible 350ci with standard ignition, but would like to upgrade to electronic. Anybody have any suggestions on a system to go with? The motor is no more than 300 HP, so I don't need a high performance system. Thanks in advance for the help!

You can get a Pertronix conversion that fits into your existing distributor. Or get an aftermarket HEI distributor, which would be my preference. There are some reasonably priced ones out there.

Just make sure you run a new power wire from fuse box [to ignition prong] , the factory wire is braided and has a built in resistance value, so you don't get more than 12 volts from it . If it where me, the pertronix like cam 69 suggest , would fit in better and look factory , the big hei will require some firewall massaging [ beating it in with hammer].

i have a large HEI unit in my 68 and never had to beat the firewall and i even have a ss plate riveted to the firewall (less clearance)
they fit snug but they fit, just make sure you get an hei that is non computer assisted 1980 or older type.
if it is to tight your trans or motor mounts are probably worn out and letting it sag/sit to far back!!

i would go pertronix. my family has done the conversions on most of our cars and they work great and keep the originality of the car

I had good luck with the pertronix setup in my 65 chevelle wagon, ran alot better than the points and it kept the factory look.

Thanks Camaro 69, mcmcmahon, burnt68, camaroboy68ss, and Smee78 for the input. I'll let you know which way I go and how it works out.
