Isn't there a connection into the dashboard light switch as well? Mine went away years ago to save weight, but it seems to me that you could get a ground via the light switch if you wanted to turn on the dome light, in addition to the grounds available via the door switches. My door switches still work, just not the dash, so I can't go look for myself.
