Damn mice. I need some help!
I am in the middle of my complete restoration of my 67 camaro. 3 years ago I pulled all of the wire harnesses out and put them in the shed for storage, yesterday I went out to get them to get them cleaned up and installed and believe it or not mice chewed them all up and now I am missing plug and portions of the harness. Now I am a licensed electrician so I will have no problem repairing the harness but with the missing plugs I no longer have any idea where they are supposed to plug in. Does anybody have a complete wiring diagram. Also I am converting form an inline 6 cylinder to a small block and useing a 1 wire alternator, what is the procedure to eliminate the voltage regulator. Thanks for your help
There are companies that make front to back wire harnesses; Painless, American Autowire, etc. You can also buy factory kits from most any supplier. These all come with full instructions. If you are doing a full resto these are a must.
I have a wiring diagram for a 68 Camaro if I can find it? I could always scan it and send it to you if you want. But if not, they're cheap and always good to have in your garage.
My car was a 6 cylinder and I converted it over to a big block. You will find some differences in the harnesses, but it's not too bad.
As for the 1 wire conversion, from what I was told, you just need to unplug the wires from the regulator and tape them up and hide them.
Seeing that your an electrician I'm sure you will properly size the supply wire, I'm using a 6 awg to carry all the load for my car.
