Question Bodies for 67,68 and 69?

I am in a debate with a guy from work about if the body shells on the 67, 68 and 69 were the same and that all that changed from each year was the front head lights, grill and rear tail lights? He is thinking that the fenders changed on one of the years. Can anyone validate this? Thanks.

I can validate your both wrong. 67 and 68 a pretty close but 69 is a completley differnet animal . If you buy a fender or a door for a 67 or a 68 they are different part numbers. 67 door has a "wing" window (see in my sig). 68 fender has a side markers. The 69 had a pronouced body line that started on the front fender and ran all the way back and the quaters had their Shark Gills right in front of the rear wheels.

The easiest way to tell the different years from the side is ask yourself does it have Gills? or does it have a Wing window. Yes to gills its a 69, yes with wing its a 67, no to either its a 68.

Gorn,

Thanks for the reply, I'll let my buddy know we both don't know what were talking about.

roofs, trunks, hoods, windsheilds and rear windows, floor pans are all the same, 67 doors dont fit 68 shells, 67,68 front fenders interchange but not correct (turn signals in 68), 69 deffinetly way different fenders doors quarters, but i have seen a 69 with 68 rear quarters put on that looked to fit correctly with 69 doors and front fenders but it looked weird!!

the hoods are the same too for all three years. the rear spoilers are factory on 68s not 67s and are narower than a 69 rear spoiler.

67-68 are essentially the same, the 69 is 2in longer 1in wider and has a different body line going down the side, it starts at the top of the fender well instead of the middle like in previous years, also the 69 has squarish kinda looking fender wells instead of very round looking like in previous years. those are the only differences i have noticed in the body, as far as lights and vent windows and things like that there are a lot of minor differences
