Default Bad master cylinder????

I'm new to this forum and I have a few questions about my 68 camaro. The problem is when I step on the peddle, it goes right to the floor. If I push the peddle again it feels firm and stops decent. There are no leaks that I have seen and the master cylinder is full. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now on to rims and tires. I would like to fit 17" up front and 18" rims out back with a wider tire. I would like to have the tires tucked in the wheel well and don't stick out from the car. I eventually would like to give the car a pro touring stance with 2" drop spindles and leafs out back. Does any one have sizes that would fit and look good with a slightly lower stance?

Thanks for your help.

First Bleed the brake lines. If that does not help, the seals inside the master cylinder are bad. You need a rebuild kit or a new master cylinder. There will be not leaks if the seals are bad.

a bit of a strong statement without knowing all the complete details, don't you think?

If the pedal is firm after one pump and the brakes hold good it is probably not the master cylinder. Start by making sure that all four brakes are functioning properly. If you have discs up front check the pads, if they are drum brakes check to make sure they are set correctly and check the rear to make sure the adjusters are working. If that does not help it is possible the master is weak and needs replacing. Don't bother with an overhaul kit, with the price of rebuilt masters it is not worth the hassle.
