i currently have a 69 x77 d80 that seems to be pretty original. the motor and trnas build cast dates match car build date but on engine there is no part vin on front pad oil filter area or back top of block. engine has not been decked and the assembly code and dz code is there. the tranis build date is stamped but no partial vin anywhere. what is the deal. thanks

 

Post a pic of engine stamp. If the area is real clean and has swirl marks, it could be a restamp. Its sometimes hard to read vin near oil filter , clean it real good and use a brite light to see it.
