69 Stripes - When to Apply?

69 Stripes - When to Apply?
I have a 69 and would like to put the two stripes down the car. Do the stripes go on after painting the base color? I would like to paint the car myself with basecoat / clearcoat but Iwas told that the clear has to be applied within 24 hrs so I wondered when in the process are the stripes put on. Any help would be appreciated.
