I am new to the site, and the classic car world in general. My kid brother passed away and of the many projects he left behind, one was a 67 (seems to be a 350 SS per the cowl tag, but I need to dig through the pile of parts and see what all there is).

I'm trying to get my bearings around how big of a project I'd be taking on if I tried to fulfill his dream of restoring this, and how far along he actually got the car.

I plan to update this thread as I sift through parts piles, as there is also a mustang in his yard and parts in his garage, but I know he has a pile of original camaro seats and interior and exterior trim.

The car rolls, has decent paint, a motor that probably needs to be rebuilt, and from a quick look below it doesn't have a drive shaft.

Besides any tips on what to look for in the pile of parts, I'd appreciate direction as to what to do to maintain the value. I've done a little reading and have found people restoring SS and Z28 with as much original as possible, or stripping and going pro-touring. If the car as original has more value that way I'd like to stay that route, but that's my uninformed opinion and I'd like some input.

If the original engine is gone then keeping all original is just a matter of preference. There are a lot of hour work left in this restoration. For someone that does not know where stuff goes and in what order is should be assembled it could 2 years of weekends to put this back together. Of course the rest will come down to parts you can reuse and the quality of the parts you buy. Not knowing your skill level or availability or condition of of remaining components there is no way to even make a useful guess on costs.

May just need seals. $30
May need rebuilt . $500 Parts $500 in labor
May be damaged beyond repair $2000-$2500

Same for the trans.

The engine could be anywhere from a $1200 basic rebuild to not repairable..
