Default 67 Gas Pedal

Another item on the clean up list is the accelerator pedal that was angled outboard. After a quick look, there is a pin that slides through a U shaped bracket on the pedal and the actual accelerator linkage on the floor. One side of the U shaped bracket on the pedal was disengaged from the pin and caused the pedal to rotate. That pin has an indentation on it but I don't see any type of clip that would keep it from backing out. Should there be?

The catalogs indicate a spring (missing). Does that somehow hold the pin?

Here's a page from the 1967 Assembly Manual that may help.

Thank you. This is not my car but a good friend's who owns ZERO tools (actually I gave him a screwdriver). These asym manuals are SO helpful. Working on a previous GM car, you realize how helpful these diagrams are.

Thanks again
