67 camaro wheel and tire fitment
what car has on it in photo are the 14x7 rally wheels, I want advice on 17” wheel tire size incl front and rear rim, tire, BS specification . Stock front suspension and rear multi leaf, drum on rear disc on front

I'm thinking 275/40s are going to be a pretty tight fit even with more backspacing if there's no lift but I have no definitive answer.

I recently went through this exercise on my 67 and went with 255/60R15 on the rear and 235/60R15 on the front. Both with 0 offsets. I went with R60’s as I personally like the older look with more sidewall thickness. I created a spreadsheet to calculate the wheel height/width for different size tires. In my case it came to 26.1” x 9.25” on the front and 27.04” x 10.03” on the rear. The only issue I have is with the front wheels that rub a fender bolt when turning hard left or right. Not bad, but annoying none the less. Probably should have gone with R55’s on the front. Also the back tires will rub the fenders if it ever bottoms out, but I have 5 leaf springs that are pretty stiff and don’t see that happening…at least not often.
Putting your numbers in my spread sheet I come up with 275/40R17 = 25.66” x 10.82” on the rear and 235/45R17 = 25.32” x 9.25” on the front. That makes both your front and rear tires a little lower in height than mine. I think your front tires would be fine and you wouldn’t have the rubbing issue I have. Your rear tires will be about ¾” wider than mine and I suspect will rub if the rear ever bottoms out. Or maybe you can come up with the right offset to prevent it.
Anyway, I’m not sure if that helps, but I remember just wanting to see pics of different wheel ratios to help me decide what to go with. Here’s a pic of my car with the wheels:

I have recently asked this same question about my 69 on several forums with zero replies. My 69 currently as 235/60 15 front and 235 70/15 rears . that makes the rear 1.5" taller I prefer lower and wider. Im thinking 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rears? Your thoughts?

I run
255 60R 15s with 8" width 4" back space on the back
215 60R 15s with 7" width 4" back space on the front.
They are GM rally wheels but they are off a Corvette. The original wheels (I still have) are 14"
I need to upload new pics, Everything from Photobucket has huge water marks now. Here is a video, ignore the stumble, I was working on the carb at the time. There are some photos in my 67 Wake up thread, link in my signature
.
Car has a stock front suspension restored in the 90's and the rear was converted to stock multi leaf from a 68. While it was restored a while ago it has seen very few miles since then. (about 3500). I believe the car is stock riding height if anything the rear is up a little.
Just so you can do the math. 255 60 means the thread is 255mm wide and 60% of that height is the side wall. So 255mm = 10.04 inchs wide tire and the side wall 6.02 inchs tall per side. So if you look at a tire you have the 15" from the rim and 6.02" from the lower side wall of the tire and 6.02" for the upper side wall to get the nominal height of 27.04" To convert MM to inch just divide the MM by 25.4.
255 60R 15s with 8" width 4" back space on the back
215 60R 15s with 7" width 4" back space on the front.
