67 Camaro question
Tonight I took my car off of the rottiserie and bolted on the subframe and rearend. My issue is the car looks like it is sitting extremely high in the back, granted I am going to add a fair amount of wieght but it appears to me there will be 7 or more inches above the tire when finished. I put all new rear springs and bushings in it oredered from napa. Was told to go with a 5 leaf spring that it would lower the rear a little and improve the ride. A little concerned I sat on the tail pan adn it only dropped about 1 inch and I weigh 200 lbs. Am I worried for nothing or am I going to have to look into lowering blocks. Right as it sits there is a little mor that 19 inches from the center or the axle to the top of the wheel opening.

When you replace your springs, bushings, etc., you want the suspension loaded (car sitting on all 4 tires) before you tighten any bolts down for real. If you tightened down your leaf springs with the car in the air, your suspension is pre-loaded. If that's what you did, loosen the front leaf spring bolts and the rear shackle bolts (top & bottom), then bounce on the car again, and tighten it back up.

Mine looked high also when I first put the body back on the chassis. To add to above, tightening the rear suspension is the last thing you want to do . You want all the weight on the car first. It will settle some but not a lot if those are factory height replacement springs.
