Default 67 Camaro Convertible Quarter Help

I am working on my 67 Camaro Convertible. I am currently working on the pass quarter. The back half of it is shot. I have done alot of patch panels on previous cars, but I honestly have never done a full quarter replacement. As a general rule of thumb, I try to save as much original steel as possible. So I am at a crossroads. The door jam is actually perfect, all the way down to the rocker panel. I have to decide whether its best to pull and replace the full quarter, or cut it back about 3-4 inches back from the door jamb and replace it from there back, splicing it in. I know panel fitment is always a blast, so I would appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks in advance.
