67 Camaro Compression Vs 93 Oct
#2
A lot depends on the heads you are going to use. Aluminum heads, fast burn chambers, reverse cooling, etc.. will allow more compression. Also if you use modern engine management systems, even more compression can be utilized. Back in 1968 the 350 HP Corvette 327 used over 11:1 compression with iron heads, but then premium fuel was rated 100 + octane (Sunoco 260), and cost about 35 cents per gallon.

ive got a 68 camaro with a 327 thats has 10:1 compression and ive had no problems with the 93 octane gas. ive been in it hard and up steep hills and ive never heard and detonation. i have cast heads and a aluminum intake with just a 650 edelbrock. works really good
