Oh heck yeah, since model years are released towards the later part of the previous year.
The 69 started production in August of 1968 for September release, so naturally early 69 models were assembled with 1968 dated parts.

Yes, engines were built first and then installed in the car at the assembly plant.As an example an engine built in Aug of 68 could be installed in a vehicle built in Oct of 68, New model year cars were usually introduced
in Sept or Oct thus a car built in Oct of 68 would be the new model year 69. Hope that helps. ed
