Default 1969 Camaro upgrade

I have a 1969 X-11 that is in great condition. It has a 305 engine and a 3 speed auto. It runs and sounds great but lacks pick up. What would be the best engine to put in the car to add performance and value? Where is the best place to find an engine?

Get a 350/300 crate motor from Pace Performance. Use all of your existing brackets, pumps, lines, carb, ignition, exhaust, etc, etc. For less than $2k, you will be all done. Plus it is a brand new, not rebuilt engine, and it has a warranty.

Default HP recommendation

Thanks, do you think it's worth the extra Money for a 330 or 375 HP engine.

One other one to look at is the replacement vortec truck motor. It has everything including the good vortec heads. It moves a 6000lb truck very nicely IT WILL move a 3200lb Camaro. Once you have the long block assembley you can always up grade the cam and a few other things to make it faster.

I agree, I'd go with a 5.3 out of a silverrado or tahoe, you can find these in every scrap yard in the country for cheap money and the aftermarket makes everything to swap it into your 69. my 99 shop pickup has 243,000 miles with no major work yet. my other choice would be a 396 big block, it would up the cool factor overnight.

The 350/300 is a direct bolt in, and best of all, the least expensive. Do you really need 330 hp, 35 hp? With those you will have to upgrade more items and spend more money to take advantage of that extra power.

Not sure. I might need it at some point. Really torn between logical choice of the 300 HP and getting some more HP and excitement with the zz4. Other option that I see out there is the 383. Blueprint has one for about $2800. I'm really looking for a long term value.

chevy 350 327 383 454 engine

Does this look like a decent setup? He can build a 383. I'm guessing using same brand parts for $2000.

Engine choice is yours to make.
For ease of swapout, going with a SBC is the easiest as said, all bracketry is a direct swap.
Going for a LS/Vortec/BBC, and into it for picking and choosing bracketry for accessories as they may or may not work.

Choose for torque for the street.
A new engine is better than a rebuilt.
