Default 1967 ss/rs 396 375hp?

I am exploring my options with this car. I have owned it since 1983 had alot of good times. I had it painted and new interior in 1986-87. New .060 over 350, double hump heads, screw in studs, roller rockers, B&M stall with rebuilt transmission in 1994. I started a family in 1995 and it has sit as in this pic since.

I do not have the original engine and trans. Is it worth triing to make this car original?

What would it be worth as it sits is it worth anymore because it was an original ss/rs 396 car?

any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, it's worth more because of what it was. And, putting in a 396 that has an assembly date that's close to what your car should have will make it worth more than if it has a 350, even though it isn't numbers matching. I presume you have the "K" code on the trim tag? I think it would be cooler to have a 396, since that's what the car was born with.

Yes, a restore to "numbers correct" would be worth it if you want that. They generally sell for more then one that has been updated to current tech. Nice thing about the 67 is that all the factory information is right on the Cowl tag. 68 to 69 you have to some how prove it was an original RS/SS. That can be tuff to do. Your going to need an SS hood

I saw an add on craigs like last summer for a 67 396 orginal Pan to Carb. $2500. He listed as running but high miles. That type of deal does not come up very offen. Do you still have the M21 trany and 12 bolt rear?

That car deserves to be put back to as close to original as possible.
The wow factor alone would make it all worthwhile. The increased value is a bonus.

Stumbled on a 396/325 hp long block that is disassembled.
block casting # 3902406 looks like the date on it is sept 19 1966. Would this be to early for build date of 06A?

GM did not start putting in Big blocks until the end of January of 67. Till then all SS's where 350s. Its just my option but any 67 396 would be fine.

Looks like a numbers matching RS/SS could be worth about 60K...certainly worth your time

Yes any 67 396 would be fine, but a "right' one would be finer.
With that said, I wouldn't let that hold me back though, if I found a decent 396.
Some people have searched a long time (even years) to find that "just right" block or other part for their resto.
You could search at your leisure and be driving the car, if that's what you want to finally end up with.
