I'm not sure how much a car like that would go for. On one hand its all original, but on the other hand its all original. If it runs I'm not sure $15,000 maybe? [sm=smiley5.gif] I know that leaded gas was used because the lead would help lubricate engine parts, but it polluted too much. Idk if you'll have problems using unleaded with that period engine or what. Besides if you get a 1st gen wouldn't you want to put a V8 in it?

Depending on condition and location I would put in the $15,000 ballpark as well. Does it have any documentation?
They do sell a gas additive to replace the lead but I don't belive it is needed.

The lead was used for lubricating the upper cylinder and valves. It also caused a lower combustion temperature as does a higher octane rating. When rebuilding the engines, most people replace the valves with "unleaded gas" type valves. They are made to withstand the higher temperatures without burning up.
If I were to find my "dream car", I would make sure that it didn't need more work than it was worth and start bymaking a low reasonable offer and then negotiate. Since it already has had rust damage repairs, there could be more unseen issues. $15k is alittle high for a car that needs a lot of work, unless it's a convertible or an SS.

they are looking for12,500
it runs great
they still have two sets of the original keys
i'm really worried about the valve work that might need to be done
could that be expensive?

As the OP didn't mention which engine was in it, it could still be a V8 already, RS was just a trim option and did not determine which engine you had, so it could be six, 327 V8, most anything that was available in that year, though I think the OP would have mentioned if it was an SS/RS or Z/28 RS.
