At first I thought of using WD 40 and spray on the corner and wipe it off. Then use a touch up pen marker of the factory color to touch up.

But, before I do this, what would be the right type of Rust remover solvent for Camaro so I don't end up damaging the rest of the paint.

I got this painted by some pro Automotive paint shop just 3 years ago. I did polish this car only once, and I used the Armor all Wash & wax all in one to wash my car twice. Whats your opinion on the the paint job 3 years ago. Did he do a half mediocre job in not adding a extra layer? Looks like the paint was chipped off 2 years later & we are really careful in not chipping the paint.

Please help anyone your help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Sorry I am so late I do not normally watch the 5th or 6th gen folder. I am looking at buying one so here I am. It is hard to tell but I do not think paint thickness was the issue unless the body man burnt through the paint when he buffed the car. It likes to either the door rubbed against something, or the metal was not prepped correctly. If it flaked off all at once then it would be a prep issue.

What you did was not a fix. Depending on weather it would do next to nothing. A long term fix would be to scuff the area with scotch bright pad (red or white) tape off the good area use a acid etch primer then some touch up paint. Short term to keep it from getting worse you can try some Surface shield from blaster.

Above is what I would do, If you search youtube you will find a lot of option that may be right for you. You could use paste wax but that would need applied every few months. I knew a guy that used clear silicone to stop the rust , he had it on there for 2 years, He got in a fender bender and the shop charged him an extra $50 to repaint the area while it was in there.
