My cousin bought a 2013 camaro ss with the 6.2 high output with the 6 speed standard tranny last fall and he says it has something on it called hill assist he wants to know if anybody knows how to shut it off or get rid of it? Thanks

 

No, not that I am aware of. GM did not put any means for it to be disabled, and there hasn't been anything in the aftermarket yet for it. You also cannot get it tuned out like the skip shift, as the hill assist is not controlled by the ecu. Best advice I heard in how to disengage it is when you are on a hill with the brake pressed, hill assist will turn on, and when it does release the brake and then press on it again, hill assist will stay off for the remainder

 

Many years ago we had a 1980 Subaru wagon that had the "hill holder" feature. I thought it was a handy dandy thing to have. What's the problem with having it anyway, to want to defeat it?

 

From what I understand by reading complaints on other forums, the hill assist doesn't release quickly enough, and you sit there revving the engine with no control over when the clutch will fully release.

 

Hmmmm....Subaru had it working quite well 33 years ago. That's "progress" for ya!

 

Ya but we know how GM can be with "progress"
