LS V6 to V8 Swap?
Has anyone done this before? It looks like the Automatic transmission is compatible and wondering what else I would need to do? Looking to purchase a used V8 to swap it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am in no way an expert but GM historically builds transmission based on how strong they need to be. A transmission may the same model number the the clutch packs and gear material tend to be different. It makes sense you don't need parts that can handle 400 Flbs of torque in a V6 and if a manufacture can save a few buck on each unit they will. You want to verify the the frame section will hold a v8 your coolant system will be too small. Then there is the computer network.
The easiest way to do a 4th generation is to buy a wrecked car with the V8 in it and the same years as your car. With the 4th gens we have lists of things that need changed in same cases need all the wiring and the gages out of the V8 car,
As you can see in the video like in a 4th gen it can be hard to justify. If you have a running V6 car you are almost always better off selling it and buying a V8 car. I have heard people claim it is cheaper on insurance but you are not truthful with your insurance company they do not have to cover you. Last thing you want is to hurt someone in a accident and then have no insurance.
