There is one connector that feeds the center console, the non-RS consoles have a five wire plug. This same plug supposedly will work with the gauges, I will find out Friday when they get here. When I posted that comment I hadn't taken apart my console nor did I have the money to buy the gauges. So, to answer your question, there is one connector but until I get the gauges (Friday) I don't know if it will work yet.

OK, let me sum this up in one sentence: JAMES WOOD CHEVROLET IN DENTON SUCKS!!!! I do not understand why it is so difficult to receive an item from vendor supply. So, the part that was supposed to be Friday wasn't. Again, it was the bs "vendor said they had it but they didn't" line. So, they located one and said it would be shipped overnight via UPS. Well, today is Saturday and still no gauges. In frustration, I asked for a tracking number or invoice number and they said "we don't have that information, sorry." I don't understand how you can have a part shipped to you from UPS and NOT have a tracking number. F--- James Wood. Anyone from Denton or the North Dallas area avoid them like the plague. I'm ordering elsewhere, sorry for the tease these past couple of days guys.

After a sincere apology and a helluva discount from James Wood, I got the gauges. I won't rant about the dealership, I'll just cover the install.

The kit comes with the trimplate, gauges, pigtail wiring harness, and some zip ties. Here's how to do the job:

1. Run your hand along the bottom of the plastic side trim of the center console, pulling where you feel pressure. The side trim goes from under the dash all the way to the armrest of the center console. Remove both sides and look up at the trimplate. There are six white pressure plugs that you push up to pop them out of place.

2. Once the trimplate is loose, put your car in neutral so you can maneuver the plate around the shifter, don't pull too much, there is not a lot of slack in the wiring harness connected to the plate!!!!

3. Disconnect the plug from the plate.

4. Remove the plug from the backside of the trimplate. Once the plate is free, disconnect and remove the wiring harness for the traction button. After the plug is off, there are tabs around the button that you gently press inward and push the button assembly upward through the plate. Set the button aside.

5. The cigarette lighter was a pain. There are two plastic tabs on the inside of the lighter that need to be pressed out (gently) from inside the metal insert while simultaneously pulling the insert upward (all while keeping that door up, I used tape to keep it in place). Once the insert is removed, you can remove the door flap by pressing in on the plastic tabs that hold it in place. There are two pressure plugs for the cigarette lighter and traction control button a the top of the plate, remove that by pinching the tabs and pushing through. The lighter plug is kind of bulky and will only fit through the hole if the door flap is removed. If you can manage to remove the pressure plug from the trimplate that keeps the wires in place, more power to you, I just cut the zipties off and removed the wire.

6. on the gauge plate, put the traction control button back in its spot (right side up, of course). For the cigarette lighter, it is easiest to disassemble the cigarette lighter (one screw at the bottom) and put the door flap on first, then the metal sleeve. Once that is in place, screw the terminals back together on the back of the lighter (it's pretty fool-proof, so there should be no issues).

7. Now that the button and lighter are on the plate, we move to the pigtail harness. There is a 12 pin plug on the passenger side of the center console (where the side trim was removed).

disconnect it and install the pigtail:

after it is done, it should look something like this: (the foam padding is where the pigtail is with the gauge connector routed to the center console)

Oh yes, zip tie the slack together but do not force the wires to stay taught, just zip tie them enough to stay still.

8. Almost done! the gauges are not attached to the new trimplate. there are two alignment holes at the base of the gauges. fit it in and use zip ties to secure the two top holes to the plate. Take the upper connector from both the cigarette lighter and traction button and stick them in place.

9. with the plate ready for installation, take the connector for the traction button/lighter and plug it in with the plate on the passenger side of the car (mind the slack). Also, go ahead and connect the plug to the gauges. with those now hooked up, turn the key and put the car all the way down to Sport Mode (Drive cuts a little close). Maneuver the plate around the shifter, make sure you line up the pins, and push the six pressure plugs down and your done! Put the car in Park, reinstall both side trim pieces to the console and enjoy your gauges!!!

All the pictures I took for the install are in my album. It is a simple job to do, 45 minutes should be more than enough time. My favorite feature of the gauges is the sweep it goest through at start up. It was a patience testing time waiting for these gauges, but well worth the wait. Hopefully I've instilled some confidence that the swap can be done and works! If there are any question feel free to ask and just for disclaimer purposes, if you don't feel confident doing it, then don't.
