so where is the weight hiding?
im trying to figure out how the new camaro weighs so damn much. just about everything is aluminum, and i dont think the irs would be heavier than a solid axle. so where is it hiding? just about everything else inside and out is plastic, which doesnt weigh that much either. any ideas?

well that seems about right. i figure the drivetrain and suspension shouldnt be much more than 1500-1800lbs. im guessing its in the interior and all the wiring needed for all the electronic crap and air bags?

I agree that I don't understand why they made it so damn heavy. It's almost as heavy as the boat of a Challenger. I'm guessing it was a marketing strategy for not infringing on the corvette or they've changed their mind and are going to release a Z28 soon or something. It doesn't makes sense to put that much power under the hood and build it so heavy. Doesn't it defeat the purpose? Or would the Camaro be too powerful at a lower weight?

I've been following the design of the new camaro since concept on another website and they honestly made it as light as possible without sacrificing all of the luxury things. There really isn't any way to avoid this weight anyway. With all of the laws and regulations required by car makers such as airbag in the front and side. Other things like that help with the weight. GM really did try to make it the lightest it could be, but they also wanted it to have some "luxuriness" to it, just for a modern update.
