Newbie wanting to buy SS. Any advice?
Hello everyone,
I'm probably about to pull the trigger and buy a '12 SS(probably M6). I've always wanted a "muscle car" and now I'm in the position to do it. I originally thought I wanted the new 5.0 because on paper it's the quickest/fastest 0-60 & 1/4 but ruled it out since it's the most common and most cramped. Then I entertained the thought of the SRT8 because it's the most retro looking in my opinion but due to it's price I've kinda ruled it out. So, now I'm at the Camaro. It's not that the Camaro is 3rd place and that's why I'm considering one now. I just thought I didn't like the looks since I've never really paid much attention to one. The more I look at them the more I like the looks more than the other two. They all look good and at least to me have pros and cons. This is going to be a daily driver half the time. I've never been to a track and doubt I ever will so I'll be passing on the LS1 and probably the 1LE. Just thinking 2SS w/manual trans. I'm a novice "driver" in every way. I've owned manual trans cars in the past but never anything with 8cyl. Anyways, is there any advice on what options to get? While looking at the 5.0 I decided I wanted the GT Track Pak. Is there any thing that you folks feel is absolutely worth the extra $ (e.g. Husrt short thow)? Anything you wished you'd got?
Thanks for any advice.

I would keep it as bare bones as possible in terms of performance parts/accessories from the dealer or GM as they are heavily marked up for price. Get the basic options and features you want, then look to the aftermarket.
Thank you.
Automatic is faster especially when tuned............ hehe.......ding.ding.ding round 1
alright, all kidding around aside....like Failed Devices said bare bones and mod yourself.....definitely cheaper but depending on what you do...you will say goodbye certain parts of your factory warranty as well.....some don't care, but some don't have the money to risk it. just sayin'. I have heard of certain dealers doing the aftermarket part installs even if you buy it elsewhere and then they will honor the warranty, they are few and far between.
