Of course...the premium gas issue did'nt set well with me either, but I was geeked up enough over the car that I would have overlooked that issue in the heat of the moment had I been able to use the chrysler employee discount.

You're wasting your money putting premium gas in a car that does not require it. It makes no difference in the performance, cleanliness of the cylinders or anything else if your compression ratio does not require it. And its a big chunk of change in the long run to drive a vehicle that burns premium if you drive 12,000+ miles a year. Its not a big thing when prices are low, but I know it sure sucked to have to shell out $20 for premium to fill my bike when the prices had spiked in the past. Even at 40 mpg it just plain sucked to have to put out a twenty to fill your bike. That just ain't right.......
Wait, I could have sworn the LT1 called for 91+ octane gas. The premium where I am is usually 93. That's what I get. It's not THAT much more expensive. And I don't drive 12000+ miles a year (I probably domore likeHALF that). If I drove that much even running regular, it'd still be a crap load of money when you added it all up.And I don't drive to the video store everytime I get a twang to see a crappy movie - THAT is a waste. I don't consider it a waste of money to pay an extra 40 cents a gallon (or whatever it is) to give my baby what she wants.
You are right that premium doesnt give you more HP with out having the correct compression ratios, however certain brands such as shell V-power do help clean out you engine & can help it run more efficently. Higher octane gas can also help avoid engine knock.
And if I was going to make a $30,000 investment in a new car, I dont think the 0.20 cents more per gallon would make me not buy the car.

And still, I'm pretty sure that while the LT1 doesn't REQUIRE premium, you should pretty much always try to use it anyway, if you want the engine to run worth a crap.

And consider this: You go up to a coke machine and put in a dollar to get a 20oz bottle of Dasani water. There are 128oz in a gallon. 128/20 = 6.4 bottles of water to a gallon. At $1.00 for a bottle of water out of a machine, $1.00*6.4bottles = $6.40 for a gallon of WATER. And you're trippin over $3.00 for a gallon of liquid that when added to a car (such as a 500hp camaro), will glue your ***** to the rear glass? Suck it up and quit complaining people.
And still, I'm pretty sure that while the LT1 doesn't REQUIRE premium, you should pretty much always try to use it anyway, if you want the engine to run worth a crap.

i personally like the way the '09 Camaro looks, just enough of the first gen in it to know what it is at first glance , but still enough modern design to know it's a new car and not a resto-rod. i will be looking at one when they hit dealerships and if they look as good in person as they do in pics....i'll buy one the second year they are out (never buy a car it's first years out, that's the year they work the bugs out)
Has anybody actually seen on of these? I can say that I have. I was on the Hot Rod Power Tour this past summer and GM Proformance had a silver one with the the entire tour. They didnt start it until the final day in English Town N.J. The car is huge...Thats all. It has a Cady CTS nose and a bloated 67 body. Its nothing close to the size of the GTO, I am saying this because I spent the entire 8 day trip driving in one. If GM doesnt offer a stripped down model with no options except for big CID and horsepower, they shouldnt even bother putting these tanks into production. Yes theyshould offer a "Mid life Crisis" model, but where are the prices going to start? Look at the car that got it all started...That damn ford. Still going strong and never a day has there ever been thought of taking it off the show room floor. The MustangII was the biggest P.O.S ever, but we did get most of our front ends from that car. I have seen many pictures of these Camaros, but the one I saw with my own eyes, lets just say I wont be upgrading from my 99.
Yeah I don't think they wanted a exact duplicate of the first gen, just a similar look to it. I personally like it because it does have a more classic style behind it but still looks new. I'd definatly get one if I had the money lol.
