Looking for advice
New member here. I have found a 2010 LT2 with the RS package that I am thinking about purchasing. It has 13,000 miles and is GM certified so they will give me an added 12k bumper to bumper warranty and 5 years 100K power train warranty. It checks out clean upon inspection and drives perfect. Are there any common, known problems I should look for before I pull the trigger? I sold my Porsche Boxster S and have wanted a Camaro since they came out in 2010. Beautiful cars! I decided against the SS as the V6 has more horses than my Porsche and that is enough for this old boy. Any advice from the experts here would be appreciated.

im also considering a fifth gen, though i gotta go SS because i want to be up to date with the latest cars. the v6 may have more power then your porsche but you gotta realize it is MUCH heavier.
idk much about how reliable the fifth gens are, but my experience with 4th and 3rd gen camaros have been a nightmare and made me a get a new 2006 mustang gt back in 2006. im wanting to get a new camaro when spring comes and the snow stops here, gonna wait for winter to pass cuz i just got new snow tires on my stang and if i got a camaro now i would have to get snow tires for it, and they sit on 20s (very expensive snow tires.)

There is no way I could buy a v6. I drove a 2012 ss with the rs package, 6 speed and it ran great but my 93 felt way more powerful. It may just be because the 5th gen ss is a fat pig but still very quick, just cant feel it as much. My 93 is stock and just "feels" much stronger but its probably not just feels like it. I am still thinking of getting the 2012, its an awesome car, I just think they feel so "tamed". And "maro, I have owned a LOT of 2nd, 3rd and one 4th gen Camaro and they all were trouble free. My several mustangs are a different story.

Just make sure you're going to be happy with the performance of the V6 so you don't wind up with buyers remorse (shoulda, coulda).
The 2LT makes 312 h.p. waaaaaay up at 6500 rpm, and torque is 278 @ 5100 rpm.
The SS is rated at 426 h.p. @ 5900 rpm, and torque is 420 @ 4600 rpm.
Both engines make maximum h.p. and torque pretty far up in the rpm range. And torque is what sets your butt back into the seat. So if you figure where your tach is going to be spending a majority of it's time, the V6 is probably going to feel like it has close to half the power the SS does.
No idea what Porsche you had, so can't say on where it made it's maximum power. So comparing Porsche h.p. to the V6 Camaro could be apples and oranges.

lol. Better now than later after taking a hit on what you just bought!
I've gone the V6 to V8 route with a 4th gen. And not to knock V6's, but once having the Z28, I'd never go backwards.
I haven't compared the difference with the 5th gens, but torque is where it's at if you enjoy the stop light to stop light type of fun.

After driving both I would have to agree with you. The V6's are still nice and nice looking but once you drive the SS around (my preference in the manual transmission) you will be hooked. Now, if I was buying a first car for a teen or my wife I would probably stick to the V6 however. Or if you want decent gas efficiency, you might want to stick to the V6. I ended up buying the SS and after a few days, I can see that getting 14 MPG or better is probably not going to happen unless I'm going to be on the highway for an extended time.
