GM 8.3 Liter LS type engine !?
Did anyone else hear or read anything about the rumor that GM was planning to create and bring to market a Super Corvette some time before the end of the C6 series and the beginning of the C7? It will suposedly be powered by a LS style 8.3 liter ( 500 cubic inch ) engine, producing in the neighborhood of 900bhp and similar torque. All that, and just under $100,000.00 too. Wow, that would show those snobby European car makers something. lol

One of the rumors about the new supercorvette (now confirmed by GM to be called the ZR-1) was based on a comment by Lutz months ago, thatwhen it made it to production itwould likely have more displacement than the LS7. GM could use the LSX iron block which is the only LS block that could go much over 7 liters: thosecan go to about 500 cubes or 8.3 liters, which could give about 600 HP flywheel with not too much difficulty. However more recent rumors put the ZR-1 as having a supercharged LS engine with a reinforced aluminum block at around 6.7 liters. We'll just have to wait and see.

i read an article somewhere that they were actually going to go smaller displacement than the ls7. the new prototype is powered by an ls7 SC, but the production car would be a little smaller because the cylendar walls are thicker and can support more boost.
