Default Charging Rate

Hey guys, I’m asking for responses as to what the normal running voltage reading is on your Camaros? If it varies to much, than what is the highest you’ve seen for a consistent time? Mine is always 15.1, 15.2 on my dash gauge and multimeter with a fully charged battery. Read that way during and after an hour of driving. After reading everything I could, this looks like overcharging.

I would think anything over 15 would not be good for 12 volt battery. 13.1-14.5 seems normal to me. maybe pull alternator and have it checked at a shop that works on alternators.

The alternator was swapped out at the dealer and it didn’t fix it. They told me that before they did that they disconnected it and the problem went away. But that’s not to say the new one was bad. Good idea though.

I replaced the AC Delco Gold 42 month battery today, 2 1/2 years old, with a new one. Voltage is now at 14.7, 14.8V. Must have been a bad cell.

I wondered about that. although my 2019 chevy van jumps up to 15 once in a while and also will drop to 13. mostly runs at 14.1. new battery. maybe keep an eye on it.
