Aftermarket HIDs and Service Stabilitrak Warning...HELP!
I drive a 2010 Camaro and had some aftermarket HID headlights and fog lights installed. A couple months later, the service stabilitrak warning flashed on while I was driving and my car started acting strange....door locks went up and down, the engine revved but wouldn't accelerate, and the "open and close driver window" warning came on. A short time later, i tried starting my car and it wouldn't start correctly...would crank and crank and then finally it would turn over and start. After that, it was driving unevenly, like the tires were adjusting to get traction when they didn't need to. I took it to the dealer and when they plugged it in to diagnose it, they said that the problem was coming from the headlights and that the HID kit that was installed wasn't compatible with the pulse width system of the car and therefore, it had damaged the body control module which now needed to be replaced.
Could the HID light kit have caused the damage to the body control module, or is this a GM issue?
