2012 Camaro SS oil pressure reading 70 psi !
What the heck? I haven't noticed that before?! All of a sudden I get in start it up and reading a whopping 70 psi! Low engine knock not bad tho! What's going on? I need to find out before I end up walking to work!!!
70 psi is waaaay high. That reading pegs the needle, so your actual oil pressure might be higher than that.
For comparison, my 2012 SS, with only 17k miles, is a hair over 50 psi at cold start idle. After the engine warms up, it's right at 50 psi on the highway, 30 at idle.
Lower engine noise, with a pegged oil pressure gauge, looks like you may have a spun rod or main bearing.
Question for you though. You say the car is an SS, which would have a 6.2 liter V8. Your profile says the engine is a 3.8 liter, but the V6 model has the 3.6 liter not 3.8. So what exactly do you have?
I moved your thread to the 5th gen section.
