2007 Camaro specs
I don't see the LS7 getting into the camaro. That would make the camaro superior to the base vette's and that aint gonna fly. It's hard to say how the RS/SS/Z28 is going to work. If they go total retro, then they might confuse some of their customers. I see the difference between the SS and Z28 being what it was 5 yrs ago. Z28 being the performance model, with the SS being more cosmetic (say what you want, but the hood scoop didn't do much for performance gains). Z28 under-rated at 345hp and the SS more accurately rated at 400hp.
I would love to see the 5.3 in the camaros as well as the LS2. Again, I don't see this happening. It's going to be cost prohibitive (multiple engines, mutlipe trans, multiple emissions, etc...). There's only going to be 2 engine packages (v-6 and v-8). And the RS option has always been appearance package available with any engine config. GM's trying to come out of a major slump, so they'll be aggressive with the styling and performance, but they aren't going to get too crazy with it. They're still in it to make money, and the Camaro died once before because it wasn't making money.
If they can price the V-6 @ $20,000, then the Z28 should be $23,000 and the SS sitting $26,000. This would be for the bare bones models. Z28's would most likely be $26,000 and SS's again at $29,000. I really see them being a little bit more expensive than this. I hope not, though. I would like to buy one ASAP.

Alright a few months back there was a survey put out in hot rod magazine to see what customers would like in camaro's... these are the options...
Base= 3.9L V6
Z28= 5.3L V8 said to be 350hp
SS350= 6.0L LS2 said to be 400hp
SS427= 7.0L LS7 said to be 500hp
ZL1= LS9 supercharged said to be 600hp
The RS package was said to be appearance only and not available on the Z28's
A stripper package was offered
A performance handling package was offered as well as interior options
What GM actually produces im not sure, however the survey did have alot of feedback on all models.

Yeah, I've seen that article, those are the options Chevy/GM wants us to choose from. I thought the second SS was a 454?
There is NO way in hell the Z28 would ever be better than an SS. The supersport is the ultimate trim, always for any model.

I don't know where those packages/options/prices came from, but I don't think the prices will run quite that high. The new Camaro will have to stay competetively priced with the Mustang. And we won't know anything for sure until Chevy releases info.

in the 80s, wasnt Iroc-Z28 the top dawg? Just a Z28 with apperance and suspension mods? i agree with keeping SS top dawg tho, cuz, thats just what 90% of people know it as, and the vette's new top dawg will be a SS, then the cobalt, silverado, etc etc.
there's an article that sais there's gonna be TWO 6ers, and ONE deffenant v8, that being said.. i think we're looking at a 3.9, and maybe either like a 4.3 or even a S/C'ed 3.9 as the other. for the V8s... LS2 is a 6.0 aint it? and if the top of the line v8(excluding that possible S/C'ed v8) is a LS2, why wouldnt they use a 5.7-LS1, not a 5.3-LS4, for the lowest v8 model(although, some said in another post, LS1s arent made anymore.. dont make sense to me, as to why they wouldnt) then the LS3, is the engine they want to use in the S/C'ed version of vette and camaro(which is a 6.2 right?)... all to confusing haha......
as much as i love GM.. they're kinda messed up...
LS1 - 5.7
LS2 - 6.0
LS3 - 6.2
LS4 - 5.3(back downthe litres hmm.)
LS5 - is there one??
LS6 - back down to a HO 5.7...
LS7 - 7.0 AKA the king[8D]
woulda atleast thought they woulda went in order of litres/cubic inches. lol
