I would agree with you on the Dodge but the fact of the matter is this .... how well are the consumers going to be wanting the new Dodge ??? Then again if Cheverolet came out with a obviously new body style for the Camaro , how well are the consumers going to want it ???
It is good that Dodge has come out with this ... hopefully the consumers will want them ... that will just add more fule to the fire for Chevrolet to get the Camaro back in the line up

right, but does that show GM that consumers want the return of the Camaro, or the introduction of a performance sedan?

I would not say the performance sedan but the fact of the matter of bringing back the name and the car , whether it would be the sports car or even the sedan ..... the name ........... Dodge is going to capitalize on the name ....... when you think of the " Charger " you think of the power due to the history of the car.
When Ford spoke of bringing back the body style of the classic " Shelby " , you thought of the power and the sales from the new body style have definately been a very big appreciation for Ford.
new lil tidbit for you guys- GM will have 2, yes 2, Zeta based chassis cars coming up with a word such as CHEVELLE as the GTO's sister car(which is gonna be a clean sheet design for 07 or 08. this leaves the smaller of the 2 Zeta chassis for the 'Chevy performance coupe' aka the Camaro. This is big news to the F-body community since that leaves the door open for the return of the pontiac version(Firebird T/A, the Trans Am name is gone though).

Camaro May Make Comeback
The Daily Auto Insider

April 2005
General Motors is working on a new rear-wheel-drive platform that could be used as the basis for a revival of the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird sport coupes, the Detroit News reported, quoting GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz who spoke before the Society of Automotive Engineers' 2005 World Congress and said, "We're going to take another look at high performance rear-wheel drive."
The new platform — known internally as Zeta — was used in the Buick Velite concept car, which debuted on the 2004 auto show circuit.
Jim Queen, GM vice president of global engineering, told the Detroit News that the automaker is now working on a rear-wheel-drive platform that would be more cost-effective, and could result in a Camaro-like vehicle.
"There's a Camaro hook in all of us," Queen said. "It may not be a Camaro, but there's a lot of us inside our company and outside our company that feel very passionate about it."
The Camaro and its twin, the Pontiac Firebird, fell from favor in the late 1990s as young consumers shifted to sport-utility vehicles and front-wheel-drive passenger cars and production ended in 2002.

I agree if GM is going to do anything to get back into the Mucsle car picture then they have to be conservatively radical. Big style changes but have to come out of the gates faster than the conpetition. Honestly I like the look of the new Mustangs. Ford (sorry I have to say it[:'(]) really did the retro packaging nicely. Dodge there revival of the Charger kind of sucked but they gave it *****!!! Two different Hemi packages one I believe with 360hp and 390flbst. The other with 425hp and 420flbst. GM has to make a mark and have a Camaro that runs the 1/4 mile times faster than these cars if the want to even appeal to there loyalist. There American Revolution line SUCKS and I think all agree. Just look at there August sales down more than 13% if i am not mistaken they were the only one to go BACKWARDS!!!! Well that is just my feelings on the matter.
