seems like a very likely canidate for the camaro. I've seen alot of Camaro merchandise sporting LS2 but i think that might be to trick the other makers such as dodge and ford into believing in the ls2's horsepower specs. maybe the base v8 will be ls2 but i think the z28 or ss whichever is top for this gen will get the 436 horsepower LS3 which will put it past the challenger's 425 hp>.. it's getting exciting to say the least.
I hope for the sake of sixer's past challenges with horsepower they will offer a supercharged v6. It's sad that my girlfriend's mother's 95 bonneville gets the benefits of a supercharger and will blow the doors off a 6er F-body as a "family Sedan"

a 2.73 rear, yeah that helps you go faster

 

I hope this will be the lowest hp v8 engine offered. I mean the camaro has a name to live up to and with all these fartcan imports are right around 300hp. Than they can offer a supercharged ls3 for me in an SS.

 

LS3 is likely going to go in some version of the Camaro, sources (that should know) on other forums have said that the LS2 is already being phased out, indeed I think they've already stopped producing them and only have whatever LS2s are stockpiled now.

Actually he's not far off the Nissan/Infiniti's are producing about 267 hp out of their 3.5L V6's
I think it's quite ignorant to think "430 horsepower is not enough for me" the fact is it's a street car, to have that much power to the pavement in stock form is a blessing already. i don't see them supercharging a car that already makes that much horsepower. They may EVENTUALLY do it, but I wouldn't bank on it.
As for supercharging, I can almost bet that card will lie in the "perfomance inspired V6" 3.9L Supercharged,which will probably produces as much Horsepower as a stock LS1, if not then very close.
There's quite a difference between 300 horsepower and 430 horsepower. i'm sure with an intake, headers, and all the other aftermarket products you will have no problem getting about 480-500 horsepower Naturally Aspirated.
The fact is it could have 800 horsepower and somebody would still find something to ***** about... "You mean it doesn't come with wheelie bars"

 

it sounds good, as long as they dont supercharge it im happy, but i agree 2.73 gears is stupid, i mean thats what most of the camaros had but they have much less horsepower, if your pushing over 400hp you need at least 3.something gears

 

2.73 gears coupled with a 6 speed tranny is going to be important for Camaro to meet gas mileage goals. I talked to someone yesterday that was crusing in his two year old vette, LS2 with 2.73 gears gets him 30mpg on the highway and around 20mpg in town, top end around 180mph. Sure a 3.73 or 4.10 rear would be great for quarter mile sprints, but I don't think the new production Camaro will be aimed for that small market niche. Perhaps there will be optional rear gears offeredor over the counter replacements at Chevy dealers.

3.08s or a gear in the 3.20-30 range would be ideal, I mean its an overdrive tranny anyway, and there is a good chance it will have the active fuel management too, so mileage should not be an issue

 

Fuel mileage will always be an issue as long we have the "global warming nuts" and assorted fruitcakes in the U.S. Congress! And they still may offer different gear sets as I said in my earlier post.
