i am now looking at a hp boost. i have a bone stock 98 ss and the dyno tune kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nitro...spagenameZWDVWlooks like a good pick but i am scared off messing somthing up! if i bought this kit would i have to be worried about anything happening??? and also does anyone have a set up for a LS1like the one im lookin at???? i want to know how it works for ya! and P.S im a college student money is tight and i dont wanna buy all the saftey parts an not really use them! so can some one give me a good set up!!??!!??!!??

 

No stock LS1's with a similar kit????

 

Yeah, we put a similar, "dry" kit on our '98 when new. It provided about 50 RWHP boost I'd guess, but the car ran spotty and just "funny" under full throttle. But it was about three tenths faster in the 1/4 mil.

The smaller kits add NOS within limits that the engines ECM can figure out and adjust to, but it does not always do the best job. Unless you have the car tuned by a really good shop with a dyno and LS1edit, etc., you won't get real satsifaction.

I'd recommend buying a Nitrous Express or similar reputable company's "dry" kit on your car and jetting it for about 75-100 HP at the rear wheels, then having it tuned at a good shop on the dyno (the tune will cost about $400-$500). You'll get much more power and smoother operation that way and make certain the NOS is not doing something it shouldn't to engine longevity.

 

what do you have done so far?

before Nitrous, I would get all the bolt ons out of the way...

Full Exhaust: Headers, hi flo cat, cat-back
Intake: Cold Air Intake
also I'd get some good spark plugs (NGK TR6's)
and maybe some MSD Wires and Coils

Exhaust and Intake are recommended for Nitrous, but I'd get an aftermarket Ignition (like I mentioned) to maximize the nitrous...and then get a PCM tune for the Nitrous...

 

all i have done so far is slp loud mouth exhaust i have a lot to do i just wanted to no about a nitrous set up for my car an how it worked out for people. i dont think i will be doing it anythime soon i have alota other stuff to get like u said lol. thing is i just dont have the money!!! drives me crazy!!!

 

yep...I'd get ALL the bolt ons before you move into power adders...
