I own a 1995 3.4L camaro. Two weeks ago I took it to the shop becauce the engine was unstable at idle, acceleration was decresed and a puff of white smoke would fly out of the exaust at ignition, as it worsen I had to give the engine gas at idle or else it would shut off and it constantly blew whitish smoke out. The mechanic told me it was the EGR valve which was stuck open by a piece of carbon from the engine and as a result it burned some of the cables around the valve. He also told while in this situation about 3 cylinders were failing at ignition but would run fine like at 3500 RPM.
He changed the EGR valve and taped up the somewhat burned wires. Everything was going fine for one day until the next when the check engine light turned on and I felt a slight drop pick up and the oil pressure. The next day the same simptons but this time it blew a white puff of smoke continue to blow a very light grey smoke that smelt like gas. Is this due to the incorrect installation of the new EGR valve or the wires that were burned? I'm getting a feeling that one of the cylinders is malfunctioning, or light misfire. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
