1993 4.3 V6 Fuel pump oil pressure switch??
New on the forum, first post.
Does the 1993 Camaro 4.3 V6 engine have a fuel pump oil pressure switch? If so, where is it located? I tried to view the where everything is located sticky but the forum won't give me access to the image for some reason.
Thanks, Mitch

it has a fuel pressure regulator. its on the fuel rail. does not have a switch that turns on the fuel pump other than through the ecm and ignition switch. there is a oil pressure switch.

Thanks for the reply. I’m troubleshooting an intermittent no run condition. I suspect the fuel delivery system as theculprit. The wiring diagram shows a fuelpump oil pressure switch with 3 wires that feeds B+ voltage to the fuel pumpmotor circuit as long as there is oil pressure. This voltage by-passes the fuel pump relay. I’m beginning to think this circuit only appliesto V8 engines since the oil pressure switch on this V6 engine only has one wireleading to it. Anyway the car has beenrunning since I started the troubleshooting process. As with most intermittent problems Murphy’s Lawprevents the problem from presenting in the presence of a mechanic. I just completed a fuel pressure check. I get 42 PSI engine off and it drops to 35PSI engine running at idle. Can you tellme if this is the right fuel pressure for this system? Can the fuel pressure regulator be adjusted?
Thanks again,
Mitch

3rd gen's had that circuit, but it was a tandem power supply to the fuel pump, both the relay and through the oil pressure switch powered the pump. This was so that the pump would stay running should the relay fail while you're driving. But the pump wasn't powered through the pressure switch only. Some people mistakenly think this was a safety to turn off the fuel pump if the engine quits, like in a crash. Wasn't aware of the 4th gen's having this circuit though, unless it was in the early years.

I'm not sure about the circuit either and I'm confused because I found several wiring diagrams online that included the fuel pump oil pressure switch (FPOPS). I also found a few that omitted the FPOPS. I love looking up info on the internet but sometimes you get too much of the wrong info with the good. Anyways the pump has been working all day and refuses to fail while I'm watching it. My lady friend will have to venture out into traffic before it will go on the fritz again. Do you know where I can get good fuel pressure numbers? As I mentioned earlier I got 42 PSI engine off and 35 engine at idle. Wondering if that is good.
Thanks for your response,
Mitch

Download the manual for the manual section. I think for the 93 its a fire bird manual but the cars are the same.
FYI: Should be a 3.4 not a 4.3
Not saying it is your problem but intermitant no starts and hard to starts is a common complaint with failing GM fuel pumps.

@ GORN - thanks for the manual tip. And you are right, I made a typo, it's a 3.4. I'm leaning toward the fuel pump but would sure like to see the problem occur for me to verify it. Can't afford to replace a running pump. I'm going to hook-up a test light to the fuel pump prime connector and keep it hooked-up until the next no start condition occurs. That should be revealing. Thanks again.
