Question Fluid for Conv. Hydraulic pump?

One of the brass fittings on the pump for the convertible split and leaked. I have replaced that but before I fill the pump I would like to be sure I am using a proper fluid. Does anyone have a clue? Could not find in Haynes or at Parts stores. Could be brake fluid, PS fluid, regular hydraulic fluid? Anyone know? 97 convertible.

Per GM, the proper fluid is a ten-weight SAE oil.

See Service VME - Convertible Top Hydraulic Fluid #PI00386 - (Aug 14, 2002), Document ID# 911168.

My 94 took Automatic Trans fluid. Dexron III. Never put brake fluid in anything unless you are 100% sure if was designed for it.

EDIT: Liberty is right. My GM shop manual calls for Dexron III but it was a mistake. It took GM 8 years to figure it out. The above service bulliton is from 2002 my shop manual is a 94 LOL. The title of the bulliton is "SERVICE MANUAL ADVISES INCORRECT USAGE OF CONVERTIBLE TOP FLUID".

Really makes ya wonder about GM... Maybe they changed it due to the way it works in colder weather? Or someone just $!#@%*-up...
