Electrical issues, cigarette lighter/OBD Port fuse keeps blowing, rough idle
I just bought a 1996 Camaro. It's a plain jane 3.8 V6 model. It idles really rough, and bucks and kicks. Upon giving it gas it smooths out. I drove it home (3 hours on the interstate). SES light is on. Tried connecting my scan tool, and there was no power. Replaced the fuse, and it worked. Pulled a P0300, P1361, and a P1655 code. Immediately after pulling the codes the fuse blew out again. I disconnected the cigarette lighter (as well as the 2nd gear start button on the same panel), replaced the fuse again and POP! There went another fuse. It appears that one of the three coil packs had been replaced already , and the plug wires appear to be new. Could the short that keeps popping the fuse be interfering with the ignition circuit that allows the car to idle smoothly? Looking forward to getting this car roadworthy so I don't have to drive my school bus like SUV for a whIle. Please help!

While I've never heard of this w/the Gen Camaro, my 84 z28 went through a similar thing, turned out the ciggie lighter got pushed in all the way and didn't pop out when lit causing a short w/aftermarket radio fuse blowing out, got a new lighter and housing problem solved, I didn't use the lighter just wanted everything to b complete and function right, I'm a little ocd like that good luck
