t tops
can anyone tell me for sure, will T-Tops for a 78-81 camaro fit a 77? aren't they the same body style just different marker lights and slightly different nose cone? just curious, found a good used pair of T-Tops on craigslist, dont want to buy something thats not gonna fit my car. thanks

RE: t tops
That would be my guess, and im thinking its a pretty safe one. The 93-97 Ttops fit the 98+ im fairly sure... or at least they look identical. Thats the best I can give u though. one thing u can try is searching online vendors for that part and see the year ranges they give you.
if they say 73-81 ur in business (or whatever the start and end years were for 2nd gens) thats what I do with alot of my questionable car parts.

RE: t tops
in the future it is better if you combined both your threads into one. it makes it easier to get complete answers

one with a question about which T-tops fit your car, and another one about how to put T-tops in the car. it's just better, and easier, if next time you included that stuff into one thread
BTW.....welcome to the forum

RE: t tops
i did two different threads because they are 2 different subjuects, one question was how to modify the roof to accomidate t tops, the other one was asking if 78-81 ttops were the same as 73-77 or whatever the year range is. but thank you for your advice and help

RE: t tops
are you still thinking about doing it?
honestly, these cars are cheap enough and you would be better off just finding a car that already has them, this way the car is supported for them and you won't have to worry about the body having twisted over the years and causing alignment problems. I have never, and I mean NEVER seen aftermarket T-Tops that fit perfect. even when they were installing them on new cars back in the late 70's early 80's.
you might be opening Pandora's Box with a project like this. you are just asking for leak problems. don't forget that you will also need to buy a headliner and I don't know how hard it is to find the interior moldings either
I'm not trying to be an ***, I'm just trying to let you hear froma voice of experience. nothing is more upsetting than when you get an idea, and then when you are done it goes nothing like you thought it would, and then you say to yourself "if I knew that before I started, I never would have done it"
good luck with whatever you choose

RE: t tops
T-top and hardtop cars dont have any structural differences. The only thing on a hardtop car is that there is fiberglass/sheet metal where the t-top otherwise would be. The misconception that t-tops twist more is because it is more noticable on t-top cars, they start to leak sooner. I dont mean to sound all mean and corrective, but this was posted in a thread on FTv6. Ill track it down if you would like substantiation.
