I have a dilemma. I'm going to powdercoat my wagon wheels (I don't care if you hate the style, my car). Here's the problem, what color to coat them. I can't do the rim a different color, it's really expensive for them to mask it off, it would more than double the price to coat them, so one color. I have cash in hand to get them coated one color. But the other issue is the center cap. It's plastic, so it can't be powder coated. I don't think I could ever find a paint to match the powder exactly, depending on the color. But I have access to silver center caps, and chrome center caps.

I was thinking mirror black powder with chrome center caps, it would match my current color scheme fairly well. Or black chrome maybe. I dunno.

Here's the colors to chose from, gimme some input here, I can't even come close to making up my mind. http://store.columbiacoatings.com/cg...on&parent=AAPD

if you paint your center caps black then gloss them, that would go nice with powder black glossed wheels. your colors are nice...

That's the debate I'm facing right now. If you click the powder link, and look at the mirror black powder, you'll see that it's literally a mirror gloss. I don't think I could come close with any kid of paint, at least without buffing. With the shapes of the center cap, it really can't be buffed properly, and it's plastic. My thought is to do mirror black on the wheels, chrome center caps, then do a gloss berger panel with polished inserts, that might tie the colors in a little bit more.

I'm starting to like it too. People have been telling me that it'll look like a cop car, but how many teal cop cars with blacked out lights, racing stripes, and 18" wheels do you see? Oh, and led lights will follow soon after.

Well, I won't lie to you, I like the chrome Y2K wheels better, but to each their own.

The chrome center caps sound pretty nice, it may be something that you have to go through with before you can be sure though...

I'm going to be dropping $250 on the wheels, so this will be a cheap experiment. I still have the 17x8 y2ks, but the chrome is peeling on them pretty bad, can't see it in the pictures. I got tired of cutting my hands on the peeling chrome every time I washed it. I'll be sandblasting those and painting them silver so I can sell them. They're too small for what I want to do anyways. mirror black and chrome caps it is, should look pretty decent.
