my buddy has a 315 on a 9.5 wide rim and i thought it would look bad but it doesnt really and i would get drag radials like some nittos or m.t's from ebay they are pretty cheap and good traction but not so much in the rain .....

There are some truck tires that are wider, and true racing slicks, but among street tires 345 is the widest I found. I ran 345 BFG drag radials on 18 in ch rims on my 'vette (required tubbed wheel wells, same for a Camaro). There is also a Michelin Pilot Sport available in this crossection - widest street tire I know of for cars. There are some 355s for trucks, though.

as long as the tires fit and you have tread they will be street legal

that doesn't really come down to looks. as I said earlier, people who do stuff like that aren't accomplishing anything. their sidewall becomes so pushed out that it can become dangerous in situations that require quick reactions. when you stuff a tire that big on that small of a rim, you have now weakened the sidewall stiffness bigtime

on a 9.5" rim, you could go with a 275/285 (and that's pushing it) and you would get much better performance and a much stronger contact patch

I just don't understand why so many people try to put huge tires on too small of rims? it makes no sense and is just a big waste of money. people need to think before they do stuff like that
