ACTUALLY, the trans am is a slightly heavier car, and is slower than the Camaro, although controversal, its been proven, and Id put a 02 SS camaro against a Cobra anyday,

 

oi dez why would a TA be faster with the same freaking engine???? id stack a LS1 agaist any mustang made in its year.... the termies are a bit of a differant issue but eh....

 

you would i wouldnt. would drive their egos even further. im talkin stock for stock not mod for stock.

down this way at the strip the lt1 trans will not totally rape a lt1 camaro but will beat it. im not basing my view on a single race but quite a few, the trans' got more victorys than loses.

the ls1's im unsure of.

 

then youve got some crappy camaro drivers the two cars make exactly same power have exactly the same tras and drivetrain and everything else except the TA is about 200-300 pounds heiver sorry bud but your wrong plain and simple

 

The SS Camaro was quicker 0-60, than a cobra up to 2002, The SS 2002 Camaro was "rated" at 325HP and lighter than the mustang by quite a bit, and had better weight distribution. Mustangs are not that fast for the power they put out, put a 500 HP shelby mustang against a 505HP vette, Vette kills everytime, the late 90's cobra mustang rated at 305hp was not even close to as fast as the Z28 camaro's at 275hp. So, yes I would put it up STOCK FOR STOCK against the cobra...

ha i hate that word bud... im basing my judgement on whats i see. yeah its gonna be different at other strips. just because a trans whips on a camaro doesnt mean the camaro driver cant drive for ****. just because their twins doesnt mean one is "quicker" than the other from what ive seen the trans is the quicker one. good day sir.



im talking 03/4 cobies not the basic gt with maybe 10 to 15 more horse. but a stang is better off the line than a camaro. but in the high end its not worth a damn.

drop the weight on a shelby to match or somewhere near the vette then get back to me. no reason to compare a heavy as f...chick to a featherweight chick.

 

Once again bud, your wrong, The trans am is the heavier car, with the SAME driver in the cars with the SAME tires and SAME gears and SAME tranny the Camaro will win... End of subject.

And the stang is no where NEAR as good off the line than the Camaro, dont know who your watching, or where your getting your facts from, but your way off kilter. And the Shelby and the Z06 are in the same class of super cars, so yes its a more than fair comparison. And I was talking the cobras, the 390 hp Cobra has the same 0-60 time as the SS camaro. Put decent rubber on the SS and game over.

 

PS, I raced a 04 Cobra with my 95 Z28, granted I have a few mods, but im not pushing 400 HP, and I took him to 70 MPH before we had to let off, both times we raced. And he has 4:10's in his car, I have a 6sp with 3:42's, and he never gained any ground. So yeah, Id say a SS stock will take him.

 

stock for stock a LS1 maro 13.1 (with average driver) termie 12.8 (with average driver) the termie should win doesnt always turn out that what but should be a good 4-5 tenths gap.....but again i dont care what youve seen dez its physics..... if you hit a golf ball and a golf ball made of steel with the same amount of force the normal golf ball will go farther and faster .....you gonna tell me just cus you saw some hulk S.O.B tag the steel ball faster that its true for all of them
