Yea, can't have that kind of fun on an automatic. I've heard of people revving it up in neutral and just dropping it into D, but I think that is devastating for the tranny so never tried that. Or should I?

slip shift - when you dont clutch your car, and kinda acouple ways to do. make sure your above 3500 RPMs, and jus take it out of gear, into neutral, and hold it toawrds next gear, and it should just slide in on its own. all without clutch. when i slip shift(racing?) for one, im about to redline, and 2, i yank it out of gear and yank it into next gear, pretty fast, but sometimes it does NOT go in, either way, so kinda gamblin(almost always goes in tho) it's more of a old school racing technique so you dont have to double clutch. does a fair amount of beating on tranny tho, unless you let it slide it's self in.

powershifting is better for you than slip shifting. slip shifting (ive heard it called a few things, not sure of its exact name but this seems to be the working name here ) takes advantage of all the rotating peices inside the tranny and the gear differences. for example, if gear "a" is rotating at a given speed, the teeth of the adjacent gear will be rotating at a speed proportional to the ratio between the two gears. in order to smoothly perform this shift you need to wait for the rpm to drop and the stick should fall right in. I do this with big trucks and u can either hold it there and apply a little bit of pressure (take it out of 2nd and hold it against 3rd, but not too hard or ull grind and it will never go in) or you can take it out, wait about a second, and push it with a little force into the next gear, the time waited should allow the speeds of the motor and wheels to sync up for that gear.

power shifting is a little different, IMO there are certain risks involved here as well, but with a power shift you keep your foot mashed on the throttle, and clutch the shifts but at WOT the whole time. if u mis a shift u will be bouncing off of the rev limiter, however if u make the shift u have that extra momentum of an engine revved up to 6k to push u when u let the clutch out.

I do a mix when I shift. I will take the throttle off, thus letting tranny tension off of the stick (u cant do a slip shift with the pedal down, the motor is applying force to the gears and effectively locking it in) and pull back or push foreward on the stick, whichever direction I need to go. as soon as u let off throttle the stick will come out of the gear easily without clutch, as its coming out i punch the clutch just in time for me to bang into the next gear (it usually crunches just a little, a sign that u have been effectively beating the hell out of ur syncros) and then mash throttle as I let it out. the clutch doesnt always even make it all the way in, but it definitly helps.

as for the traction thing, i dont think traction should ever be used as an excuse on a roll race. just hit the gas, dont rev up and dump it or whatever

K thanks. idk why but i get no traction. I just hit the gas and it just spins all the way through first and second. but my tires are so worn down. They have likeno tread left, im gonna get some new tires soon. But it helps when my tires are hotter. Usually after the first race of me spinning they get a little bit warmer and grip, but that didnt happen thistime. any traction tips? and it doesnt help that i usually race at night and its like 50 degrees at night so my tires are cold.
