And I don't suspect he smelled your brakes while you were racing, unless you were riding the pedal.

Our king is defeated! We surrender! lol, well, fast cars are projects right? No worries, you'll get him. You sure the clutch is going, or is he pulling your leg?

he said he smelled it after we got off. and it wasnt the brakes, it was the clutch he said he smelled. i might have worded it funny. I think the issue might be that it starts to slip at peak power. the clutch may be in pretty good shape because it does good around town, it only starts to smell in lower gears when im beatin on it in high rpm. the ls1 clutch isnt rated very high, which is why the later fbodies all got ls6 clutches which still werent that great.
i also have a track slip on the nitrous that reads 13.1 @ 114.x 2.1 60'.i had a couple people tell me too that it sounds like the clutch is giving out at peak power. i dunno, im definitly smelling something every time i beat on it, and it smells a little like burnt tires.... but alittle diff. ive never had clutch issues before so i dont really know how to diagnose it

well i didnt know if you were using brakes to slow down after a highway run, you would smell them if you did, and it smells the same. so you dont notice your rpms climb and not your speed? thats all you have to do, do a hard pull in 3rd and if it seems to rev free on the top end, watch your speedo to see if it climbs with the rpms or flattens out

RE: Specter goes down
get rolling about 30-40 mph. Pop in the clutch, rev the engine to about 5 grand and quickly pop the clutch out
@ 25 would be a better test to see how stong your clutch still is

My clutch is fine around town, but when I go to the track, I can feel it slip, mainly on the start. If I wasn't putting on $1600 of parts, I'd leave it be. But since there aint much left under the car right now, seems like a good time to get it out of the way.
